The CPILW rose slightly from 0.8% in December to 0.9% in January. The CPIH measure of inflation also increased from 0.8% in November 2020 to 0.9% in December. Both measures indicate a slight increase in inflation in January.
The Covid-19 pandemic has served to further highlight the vital contribution of schools in society, not just with respect to learning and education, but also the much broader role they play in children and young people’s lives.

Global warming is likely to increase the frequency and intensity of extreme or abnormal weather events (Herring et al, 2018, NASEM, 2016). In this note, we quantify the uncertainty of GDP outcomes resulting from abnormal weather events, considering both the initial destruction that is caused by the event as well as the boost to activity from the subsequent rebuild.
